First Coral Gables is a church in action! We believe that we are called not only to gather in worship but also to go out into our community and world, sharing the good news and serving others with compassion.

And guess what…YOU are invited! Join us on one of our local monthly mission opportunities, and take part in these fun and exciting adventures that make a positive impact on the world around us!

Missions in 2025

January

Rise Against Hunger, January 26, 2025

What an incredible day of service! On January 26, 2025, 110 amazing volunteers from First UMC of Coral Gables came together with one mission—to fight hunger! In just two hours, they packed 19,400 meals for Rise Against Hunger, helping to provide nourishment for the hungriest populations in the world.

This is what being the hands and feet of Christ looks like—serving, loving, and making a difference! Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and prayed for this mission. Your efforts are bringing hope and food to those who need it most. Let’s keep the momentum going as we work toward a world without hunger!

April

Hurricane tree project - throughout April 2025

For the 4th year in a row, United Women in Faith will collect items and donations in order to provide low-income Branches families with Hurricane Preparedness Kits. The kits contain important items to weather a hurricane, including lanterns, flashlights, batteries, solar powered phone chargers, first aid kits, masks, can openers, etc. Throughout April, a “Hurricane Tree” in the Sanctuary will display more items needed for the kits. Donations to purchase the items will also be accepted. For more information, email Dr. Nora Hernandez Hendrix.

June

Climate Justice Tree Planting Event - saturday, June 21 • 9am-12pm

First Coral Gables will once again help plant fresh air and blissful shade in our local neighborhoods! We're partnering with the South East District United Women in Faith and other organizations in this divine mission for climate justice. We will be planting young trees in a Miami community (location TBD) to help provide greater tree canopy that will reduce temperatures in urban areas of Miami-Dade County. This is a great activity for families to work on together! In addition, there will be fun activities for smaller children. Breakfast will be provided, so please register for this event. For more information, contact Dr. Nora Hernandez Hendrix.
